This chapter was not only funny, but also very well written. The conversation between Pip and Bentley was very subtly vicious. For example, Drummle talks about his leisurely activities, stating that "[He] mean[s] to explore [the] marshes for amusement... Curious little public-houses-and smithies-and that.(Dickens 382). Bentleys comment is obviously referring to Pips origins in the working class. It is a very offensive comment (for its time), yet at the same time really funny.
